City Council District 28 is among the 32 CDs set to engage in the latest cycle of Participatory Budgeting, Council Speaker Corey Johnson announced on Monday.
In kicking off PB Cycle 8, Johnson called on constituents to submit ideas on the projects they would like to see funded.
“I’m so excited that the City Council is kicking off Cycle 8 of Participatory Budgeting, the largest demonstration in North America,” the council speaker said. “New Yorkers, this is your money, so please get involved. No one knows your community better than you, so let us know how to you want us to spend $1 million in your neighborhood. This is democracy in action and we are looking forward to all your wonderful ideas.”
Councilwoman Adrienne Adams (D-Jamaica) represents the residents and business owners of CD 28 on the council. The district is composed of parts of Richmond Hill, South Ozone Park, South Jamaica, and Rochdale Village.
Vote Week for Cycle 8 is scheduled for March 30 through April 7, 2019. Voting in Participatory Budgeting is open to all residents of participating districts 11 years of age and older. The sole identification requirement is proof of residency in the district.
