St. Francis Students Travel the World

SFP European travellrs soaked up good times along with the history of Krakow

St. Francis Prep students have the opportunity to take advantage of the best classroom in the world – New York City. But many Prep students have the opportunity to spend part of their summers around the world, not only soaking in the culture, heritage, and food of other countires, but also sharing their own talents and abilities.
The first of three Prep trips that travelled abroad this last summer was through the where students visited Spain, Portugal, and Morocco. In addition, students were able to appreciate the beautiful architecture, and different culture as well as learn a few phrases in the various languages they encountered.
The second trip led Nineteen students to sites related to the World War II European Holocaust – Berlin, Warsaw, Prague, Krakow, Prague and Munich. The students visited the Holocaust camps of Auschwitz and Dachau.
The final trip was Prep’s Music department’s tour of England. The school’s Jazz Band, Singers, and Chamber Orchestra visited Oxford, Stratford-upon-Avon, Canterbury, and London.
In all, eighty three students and families were able to visit sites such as the Harry Potter Studios, Blenheim Palace, the birthplace of Sir Winston Churchill, Canterbury Cathedral, where Thomas Becket was martyred, and the Tower of London. Additionally, the ensembles performed at the Stratford River Festival for an audience in the thousands.
