Assemblyman Mike Miller recently presented State Excellence in Reading certificates to three students from PS 254 in Richmond Hill for accepting the elected official’s Summer Reading Challenge.
Miller sponsored the event in coordination with State libraries to inspire kids to read on a regular basis throughout the summer break. Many students throughout the 38th Assembly District participated in the challenge and pledged to turn pages for at least 15 minutes each day for at least 40 days during the months of July and August.
On Oct. 9, Miller joined Principal Pamela Markham (l. to r.) in honoring Sophia Salazar, Janessa M. Williams, and Esmeralda Petterson.
