More than a million dollars’ worth of cocaine was recently discovered in a suitcase at John F. Kennedy International Airport, according to federal officials.
Customs and Border Protection officers examined a suitcase that arrived at the Queens airport last Wednesday from Quito, Ecuador. The probe resulted in the discovery of 38 neatly packed brick-like parcels containing more than 100 pounds of the white stuff. The narcotics have an estimated street value of $1.3 million, authorities said.
Federal agents seized the coke and subsequently turned it over to Homeland Security Investigations and the Port Authority Police Department for further investigation.
