Large patches of green space along North Conduit Avenue seem to have been ignored for quite some time.

A recently established Ozone Park civic organization reached out to dozens of elected officials, City commissioners, and journalists on Monday decrying the shoddy conditions of several swaths of land along North Conduit Avenue.
The Ozone Park Residents Block Association indicated via email that it is “filing this complaint on behalf of all the residents in the vicinity and areas of North Conduit Avenue between and including Centreville, Tahoe, and Raleigh streets.” The group fired off seven emails containing nearly two-dozen photographs and maps detailing the eyesores that have been in substandard condition for years.
“We have surveyed this area and find it appalling that these residents have complained to numerous City agencies and no one is listening,” civic President Sam Esposito wrote. “I am enclosing the pictures of the unkempt trees, the overgrown weeds, and the garbage and dumping that this community has endured for longer periods than they should have. This is an area that brings in people to dump, animals, such as raccoons roaming around at night; and because of the seclusion, people parking and doing unspeakable acts in their cars.
“This is not what the residents expected when they invested hundreds of thousands of dollars into their homes,” Esposito continued, “and have to live under these horrible, unsustainable, unsuitable, unendurable, and dangerous conditions.”
The civic noted that it is asking for a coordinated effort between City agencies to be good neighbors and help to beautify the areas in question.
“We appeal to your sense of community, pride and ethical services, for the betterment, of a community, and a neighborhood that deserves as much,” Esposito added. “Please set this as a priority to get this cleaned up and properly maintained, to satisfy the communities’ concerns as they are taxpaying residents that deserve as much.”
