Borough native Lourdes Ventura was recently sworn in as a judge for the City Civil Court Queens.
“I have full confidence in Lourdes as a judge to uphold the laws, knowing she has the best interest in mind for Queens,” said Assemblyman Mike Miller (at lectern) who spoke at the Borough Hall ceremony.
Miller noted that the Richmond Hill resident is the first Latina to serve as president of the Queens County Women’s Bar Association. Ventura is a former assistant attorney general for the Civil Rights Bureau of the State Attorney General’s Office;and a former prosecutor for the Queens District Attorney’s Office. Ventura has also served in the State Senate in a variety of roles, including special counsel to the Senate Majority Conference;counsel for Latino and Immigrant Affairs; and deputy chief of staff for the Policy and Finance departments.
