Members of the Howard Beach Lindenwood Civic Association cheered loudly and proudly Thursday evening at the Queens Library Peninsula Branch as one of their own—Vice President Cathy Harrison—received a Woman of Distinction award from Assemblywoman Stacey Pheffer Amato (D-Howard Beach).
Harrison was one of six honored at Pheffer Amato’s second annual Women of Distinction Awards Ceremony, which celebrates “women throughout the community who have shown great strength in their actions to foster a brighter future for all.”
Harrison runs the HBL Civic’s Active Military Coupon Program, working with other area organizations in clipping, collecting, and mailing manufacturer coupons to U.S. Armed Forces members serving overseas. Harrison said 2019 has been the program’s “best year so far,” noting that they already have shipped more than $600,000 in coupons to active duty soldiers and their families.
Congratulations, Cathy!
