The Ozone Howard Little League Major Girls District softball squad recently rode pitcher Ashley Dalo’s no-hitter and the team’s clutch hitting and solid defense to a 5-0 sectional title win over Staten Island’s Snug Harbor team at Great Kills Leittle League to earn the crown of City Champions.
According to team officials, two years ago this same group of girls made it all the way and won the East Coast Regional Championship, which is far as you could go at 10 years old. Now being 12, the girls have set their eye on the prize of earning a spot at the Little League Softball World Series in Portland, Ore. this August. They will compete for the NY State Championship next week in Fishkill, N.Y.
