An indictment was unsealed Friday in federal court charging an admitted borough prostitute with distributing and possessing with intent to distribute fentanyl that resulted in the fatal overdose of a man inside a Queens motel room on July 11, prosecutors announced.

As alleged in court filings, on July 11, Jean-Alessander Silvero, 28, was found dead at the Crown Motor Inn in Elmhurst. Video surveillance from earlier that day captured a female, who appeared to be Angelina Barini, 41, and the victim, entering the motel together. Subsequent to her arrest, Barini was interviewed by law enforcement authorities and admitted supplying the drugs to Silvero.

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner determined the victim’s cause of death was fentanyl intoxication. The investigation is continuing, federal officials noted.

“As alleged, without regard for the potentially lethal consequences of her actions and despite the enormous body count attributed to dangerous opioids, the defendant provided fentanyl to the victim, causing his death,” said Brooklyn U.S. Attorney Richard Donoghue.

Barini, of Rego Park, was arrested and arraigned on Aug. 25 on a criminal complaint charging her with conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute one or more substances containing fentanyl. She was remanded into custody.

According to the complaint, between July and August, law enforcement authorities, including Homeland Security Investigations, had been looking into several lethal drug overdoses that had occurred in Queens hotel rooms. Based on the probe, federal officials tied Barini to the deaths of at least three clients.
