Area detectives recently received early Christmas gifts courtesy of a member of their extended family.
On Friday, Leanne Simonsen, widow of 102nd Precinct Det. Brian Simonsen, presented members of the 102’s Detective Squad with new bulletproof vests.
According to the NYPD, the new vests are less bulky and easier to put on quickly.
On Feb. 12, Det. Simonsen was killed in the line of duty while responding to a commercial robbery in progress in Richmond Hill.
