Members of the Kiwanis Club of Howard Beach recently responded to the call to join the Queens Week of Service (Feb. 10-17) by donating a staggering 1,200 pairs of socks that will go to those in need.
Volunteers from the 14 Queens community boards and the Queens Borough President’s Office collected more than 3,100 pairs of socks in all, as well as hundreds of toiletries and dozens of sweats for borough veterans.
“Kiwanis is a verb,” said club President Abe J. Garcia (pictured here l. to r. with Vice President Charles Butera and Secretary Dino Bono). “We are about serving our community any way we can.”
