Howard Beach Lindenwood Civic NYPD Community Partner Maria Asaro recently took to Facebook to request that her neighbors tie “blue ribbons around your trees in your community in support the New York City Police Department. Thank you!”

Howard Beach certainly has responded to the #NYPDBlueRibbonChallenge.

And social media users have flooded several platforms with picture proof of their participation. Amanda Claas contributed a photo to the civic Facebook page of a blue ribbon tied around a tree—in Milwaukee, WI.

“Challenge accepted—Showing support for NYPD and [law enforcement officers] across the country,” she wrote.

On Sunday morning, the civic joined 106th Precinct Auxiliary officers in distributing free blue ribbons outside St. Helen’s church.

“A special thank you to Auxiliary Capt. Michael Hennessy for spearheading the effort to engage organizations throughout every community within the 106 Precinct command to take the challenge,” civic leaders wrote on Facebook.
