After weeks of warning individuals not to call the Internal Revenue Service regarding economic impact payments, the agency has established a special telephone line for anyone who has questions about their stimulus funds, U.S. Rep. Grace Meng (D-Flushing) announced Tuesday.
The number is (800) 919-9835.
The IRS began sending out relief payments in mid-April. The payments are being made under the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act, the third COVID-19 relief package passed by Congress and enacted into law. They consist of up to $1,200 per adult and $500 per child. The funds are intended to help many taxpayers with the financial burden that they are experiencing due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
