Queens Borough President Donovan Richards, Jr. on Friday touted a $589,000 allocation to replace five ultrasound machines with new, state-of-the-art mobile equipment that can be used in any setting to accommodate individuals with disabilities.
The project, fully funded by the borough president’s office, will allow the hospital to perform advanced imaging, such as elastography, and offer a non-invasive way to diagnose and assess the severity of diseases, such as liver fibrosis, instead of conducting more invasive biopsies and other procedures, Richards noted.
