As a result of being notified of a severe dumping condition along 155th Avenue in Old Howard Beach, Councilwoman Joann Ariola (R-Ozone Park) this week immediately contacted the City Department of Sanitation for the removal of debris and tires.
At least one resident whose house is on a block that runs perpendicular to 155th Street praised the cleanup, noting that the “disgusting conditions” have been a staple on the road for years.
“It rivals the filth of 165th Avenue because they are the end avenues and people abuse them,” the neighbor, who asked to remain anonymous, posited.
“Keeping our district clean is a priority! Our office has been working with community residents to identify chronic dumping areas so they can be cleaned,” Ariola said. “Thank you to the Department of Sanitation for the quick response to our complaints.”
