Howard Beach families this weekend took advantage of the pristine conditions and warm temperatures by gathering at Frank Charles Memorial Park for the first Gnomes and Nature Painting Day.
Sunday’s event was hosted by the Howard Beach-Lindenwood Civic and sponsored by City Councilwoman Joann Ariola (R-Ozone Park) and the Jamaica Bay-Rockaway Parks Conservancy.
“What do gnomes, paint and nature have in common? FUN! Kids had a blast at our first Gnomes and Nature painting day at Frank Charles Park,” the conservancy posted to its Facebook page. “May these magical gnomes bring good luck to gardens.”
Civic leaders added about Sunday’s success, “Thank you to everyone who attended and everyone who helped! We will see you back the park on June 18 for our community painting event as we continue the revitalization of Charles Park.”
