State Sen. Joe Addabbo, Jr.’s (D-Howard Beach) Veterans BBQ is set for Saturday, Oct. 1, from noon to 2 p.m.
Each year, Addabbo and staff invite veterans from the 15th Senatorial District to the Howard Beach Motor Club, located at 59 Russell St., for free food and fun.
Addabbo has been organizing this free event every year since taking office in 2009.
“This is definitely one of my favorite events to host each year. There is nothing better than putting smiles on the faces of our veterans,” said Addabbo, member of the Senate Committee on Veterans, Homeland Security and Military Affairs. “This is just one small way my office and local businesses get to say ‘thank you’ to veterans for the sacrifice they and their families have made to protect our freedoms. And to see how so many of our local restaurants and businesses participate by donating all the delicious food and beverages for our veterans gives me a great sense of pride in our community.”
Veterans who wish to attend the event are asked to call Addabbo’s Howard Beach office at (718) 738-1111 to make a reservation. Due to space constraints, any veteran who RSVPs may bring only one guest with them.
“I like to say every day is Veteran’s Day, and it is such an honor to spend time with our great veterans and provide them with some free food, music, friendship, and good times,” Addabbo added. “I look forward to having another successful and safe event!”
