Meng Applauds USPS Audit Following Letter She Sent

By Forum Staff

On Tuesday, U.S. Rep. Grace Meng (D-Flushing) applauded the United States Postal Service of Inspector General’s (OIG) announcement that it is auditing the United States Postal Service’s (USPS) efforts to mitigate mail theft in Queens.

In a letter, Meng convinced USPS OIG to investigate mail that is being delivered throughout the borough.

“For years, my constituents have voiced their concerns about the lack of safety of their mail as it travels through the postal system. I am proud to have catalyzed a response by OIG, ultimately leading to an audit that will investigate the mail theft problem plaguing our community,” said Meng. “My constituents deserve the peace of mind and benefits that so many other Americans enjoy, knowing that their mail is safe. This is a huge step in addressing the issue and I am honored to have spurred the start of this investigation on behalf of my constituents.”

Desipite USPS’ efforts to update secure locks and relay boxes, mail theft runs rampant.
