This holiday season, State Sen. Joe Addabbo, Jr. (D-Woodhaven) partnered with New York Cares to have his two district offices serve as collection sites for New York Cares’ winter coat drive.
Between his Woodhaven and Middle Village offices, Addabbo received 200 gently worn coats which were donated by the community in all sizes and for all ages and genders. They will go directly to NY Cares to be distributed to their organizational partners who will make sure that they are given to those in need. Addabbo’s office also donated coats to Cityline Ozone Park Civilian Patrol, Darma Diaz, associate commissioner for the Department of Homeless Services, and PS 56 in Richmond Hill.
“I am always impressed by the generosity of our community,” Addabbo said. “They have made sure that there will be fewer New Yorkers freezing in the cold this winter. I am proud to partner with New York Cares as a collection site to help this important program and further to give coats to many of our own community organizations.”
