City Councilwoman Joann Ariola (R-Ozone Park) secured funding for a new City Fire Department Ceremonial Unit van.
Thanks to the funding, the FDNY was able to purchase a brand new Mercedes-Benz Sprinter vehicle, which will be used to transport personnel and equipment to and from FDNY events.
“Our Bravest deserve the very best,” said Ariola, chairwoman of the Committee on Fire and Emergency Management. “It was an honor for me to provide these heroes with the funding to buy a new van, so that our firefighters, their families, and necessary equipment can be brought to wherever they need to be, whenever they need to be there.”
“The FDNY Ceremonial Unit plays an important role in ensuring that our department’s many memorial services, plaque dedications, promotions, graduations, and other ceremonies go off without a hitch,” added City Fire Commissioner Laura Kavanagh. “We are grateful to Councilwoman Ariola for her ongoing support of this department and our members.”
