South Queens families joined their NYPD partners Tuesday evening to celebrate National Night Out, the annual community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie.
Members of the 102nd Precinct and area residents marked the occasion at Victory Field in Woodhaven. The 106th Precinct hosted members of the communities they serve at Harold Schneiderman Playground in Lindenwood.

“Your energy, smiles, and support made it an unforgettable evening. Together, we’re building a stronger, safer, and more connected community,” said Capt. Pratima Maldonado, commanding officer of the 102nd Precinct.
State Sen. Joe Addabbo, Jr. (D-Woodhaven) attended four NNO celebrations on Tuesday, including those hosted by the 102 and the 106.
“National Night Out is a vital opportunity to recognize and thank our dedicated police officers who work tirelessly to keep our neighborhoods safe,” the senator said. “It’s equally important to build trust and camaraderie within our communities, and these events provide a wonderful platform to do just that.”
The National Association of Town Watch introduced the National Night Out campaign in August 1984.
