Cops Hunt Suspect in Bayside Car Accident that Claimed Richmond Hill Man

City Police Department investigators are searching for a suspect who ran from the scene of a horrific collision Tuesday in Bayside that killed a Richmond Hill man.

Bishinu Madray-Mootoo, 24, of 120th Street, died shortly after being rushed to North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset, L.I., from the Cross Island Parkway crash site.
According to police, on Tuesday, at approximately 2:30 a.m., cops responded to a motor vehicle collision in the vicinity of the Cross Island Expressway and Bell Boulevard near Exit 31. Further investigation by the NYPD Highway District’s Collision Investigation Squad determined an unknown individual was operating a 1999 BMW 323I northbound on the Cross Island Parkway in the left lane, striking a guard rail located along the east side of the roadway. The vehicle then crossed over three lanes, striking a concrete median before overturning onto its roof. EMS responded and transported Madray-Mootoo to North Shore University Hospital where he was pronounced dead. The unknown additional occupant did not remain on the scene. There are no arrests, and the investigation remains ongoing by NYPD Highway District’s Collision Investigation Squad.

According to NYPD traffic data, collisions, collisions resulting in injury, and total injuries have increased recently in the 111th Precinct. Over the past 28 days, collisions are up 23 percent compared to the same period last year; collisions resulting in injuries are up 33 percent and total injuries are up are staggering 70 percent.
