The $29 million Spring Creek North Ecosystem Restoration Project is finally moving forward to restore 43 acres of wetlands and natural habitat at Spring Creek, near Lindenwood, Councilwoman Joann Ariola announced on Tuesday.
This project, led by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in partnership with NYC Parks and NYC DEP, will:
- Restore marshes, scrub shrub, and maritime grasslands
- Improve local water quality
- Allow for more wildlife and natural beauty along Jamaica Bay
Construction is expected to begin later this year, with completion anticipated in spring 2027.
