The Greater Woodhaven Development Corporation celebrated this week after two perpetrators who allegedly stole the wreath and American flag from the World War II monument at the Forest Parkway Plaza in the hear of Woodhaven were apprehended.

The group spread the news via Facebook and issued a press release to express their thanks to all who helped with the apprehension, as well as dismay over the fact that the alleged bandits are residents of Woodhaven.

GWDC commended the 102nd Precinct and Det. Middleton for their expeditious handling of the case.

In its statement, the GWDC also extended thanks to the community.

“We would like to thank all the residents for their acts, statements and phone calls that helped to identify these two despicable individuals.”

The group promised to keep the community informed as to when the names of the suspects would be released and the status of the case against them.

“These two may be from Woodhaven by they are NOT Woodhaven people,” the statement read.

GWDC is in the process of preparing a new WWII wreath for the monument. Visit the organization on Facebook at facebook.com/WoodhavenBID
