Rotary club members of Queens and Brooklyn, nonprofit leaders, government representatives and elected officials on Tuesday evening gathered for dinner at Prima Pasta Cafe in Howard Beach to discuss issues affecting veterans and share ideas on how to better serve those who have served the country.
Speakers included state Sen. Joe Addabbo, Jr. (D-Howard Beach); Yvette Cintron of the Department of Veterans Affairs; Jason Hansman, director of external program relations at Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America; and City Councilman Eric Ulrich (R-Ozone Park), chairman of the Veterans Committee.
“We don’t do enough to help those 235,000 veterans [in the city],” Ulrich (standing) said. “We can always do more. We can always do better.”
