There goes the neighborhood.
Assemblyman Phil Goldfeder (D-Ozone Park) on Monday announced that he will be opening a new district office in Howard Beach later this month.
Located at 162-38 Cross Bay Blvd., the office features free parking in a rear lot, in addition to metered spots on the boulevard; and visitors will be able to enter from the front or the lot. Goldfeder noted that this will help make the office more accessible to seniors and people with disabilities.
“I’m excited to be opening up my new office in Howard Beach,” Goldfeder said. “This new, expanded space will help me to better serve the families I represent and provide them with the assistance they need.”
Since the 2011 election, Goldfeder has maintained two district offices: one in Rockaway and another on Cross Bay Boulevard near Liberty Avenue. This is due in part, Goldfeder said, to the tolls on the Cross Bay Bridge into Rockaway.
Goldfeder, who just kicked off his third term after being sworn in last month at PS 207, added that the new location will help make him available to families in Howard Beach that are still struggling to recover from Superstorm Sandy. The Rockaway resident maintains a district office on Beach 96th Street in Rockaway Beach, as well a legislative office in Albany.
“The HBLC would like to welcome Assembly Member Goldfeder and his staff to their new office in Howard Beach, but no matter where he or his staff is located, he is a constant advocate for the constituents he serves,” Joann Ariola, president of the Howard Beach Lindenwood Civic Association, said in a statement.
“My door is always open,” Goldfeder said, adding that he will be holding a grand-opening ceremony later this month.
