A federal grand jury has been impaneled and is investigating a crew with ties to the mob that is allegedly responsible for the recent spate of home invasion robberies in south Queens communities, according to an exclusive online report.

Sources have indicated to Gang Land News’ Jerry Capeci that prosecutors seeking an indictment have been presenting evidence and witnesses to a grand jury about “dozens” of violent robberies in which masked intruders beat victims, force them to strip naked and tie them up before making off with cash and jewelry.

Federal authorities would not confirm, deny or comment on any ongoing investigations.

According to Capeci’s report, former Howard Beach resident Gene Borrello, 30, is one of the alleged leaders of the crew, which also includes Borrello’s brother, Frank Cipolla, 25, and Frank Nunziata, 30.

Last June, the Gang Land story reported, Nunziata and Cipolla were pulled over in Nunziata’s BMW, in which cops allegedly found a loaded .22 caliber revolver, plastic zip ties, crowbars, screwdrivers, a ski mask and a bandana.

However, Capeci wrote in the April 9 story, Borrello and Cipolla didn’t know that Nunziata began cooperating with authorities following his arrest on drug and other charges.

Cipolla is out on six-figure bail, while Borrello remains on Rikers Island.

Home invasions in the Howard Beach area have decreased tremendously, according to law enforcement sources.
