Broken Windows works in the 106th.
Borough Narcotics cops last week discovered a loaded .22-caliber gun on the person of a man who they had previously observed smoking marijuana at a South Ozone Park intersection.
The weapon was taken off the perpetrator after a search at 129th Street and Liberty Avenue in the 106th Precinct.
The case is one of myriad across the city being trumpeted by the NYPD as examples of the Broken Windows policing theory—monitoring smaller crimes leads to order and the prevention of more serious crimes—at work.
