The Queens Jewish Community Council recently held its annual Testimonial Dinner at Young Israel of Jamaica Estates.
The event celebrates QJCC’s success in providing social services to those in need, in advancing human and civil rights, in combating anti-Semitism, and in encouraging a deeper understanding and appreciation of Jewish heritage and culture.
The organization presented Retail, Wholesale, and Department Store Union President Stuart Appelbaum (c.) with the Steven Pezenik Community Service Award. QJCC Executive Director Cynthia Zalisky (l. to r.), Queens Borough President Melinda Katz, U.S. Rep. Grace Meng (D-Flushing), and QJCC Vice President Michael Nussbaum honored Appelbaum at the Aug. 15 dinner.
