The City Police Department recently established a donation drop-off point inside the Resorts World Casino New York City parking lot to collect much-needed supplies for families in Puerto Rico.
Volunteers gathered in South Ozone Park to prepare and sort donated items for shipment to the island that was battered by Hurricane Maria last month. According to the NYPD, to date, more than 14,000 cases of essential items have been shipped to Puerto Rico, including baby food, diapers, first-aid kits, batteries, canned goods, and water.
A group of NYPD volunteers will be traveling to Puerto Rico to aid with ongoing relief efforts and ensure that the supplies reach those who need it most, department officials said.
