Assemblywoman Stacey Pheffer Amato (D-Howard Beach) on Monday announced the opening of nominations for her first annual 2018 Women of Distinction Awards to, as she said, “recognize the incredible women who are going above and beyond to strengthen South Queens and create a brighter future for all.”
Awards will be given for work in various fields, including health care, business, volunteer work, humanitarian work, education, and military service, the assemblywoman noted.
“This March, let’s not only celebrate Women’s History Month by honoring the women of the past who broke down barriers, but also recognize women of today who are inspiring others and working hard to put our community on a better path,” Pheffer Amato said. “There will never be enough ways to thank them, but these Women of Distinction Awards are part of how we can show our appreciation.”
Pheffer Amato requested that nominations for the 2018 Women of Distinction Awards be submitted by March 16. Contact the assemblywoman’s office for a nomination form, which can be returned by email to amatos@nyassembly.gov or by fax to (718) 945-9549.
Winners will be honored at an awards ceremony at the end of the month.
