Tropical Storm Isaias lashed Queens pretty much all day Tuesday, with heavy rains and driving winds wreaking havoc on the borough that has endured more than its fair share of Mother Nature’s wrath over the last decade.

Several trees in Howard Beach did not fare any better.
Wind gusts in excess of 75 miles an hour ripped thick tree roots out from under sidewalks, tossing them like rag dolls onto parked cars. A man in Briarwood was killed when a tree landed on the vehicle he was driving.

A tree in a Woodhaven yard was ripped out, roots and all, thanks to Isaias’s heavy wind gusts Tuesday.
The resulting destruction reminded many of what was left behind by the tornado and macroburst that touched down in Queens in 2012, erasing hundreds of borough trees.
