The students of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Academy recently held a “Dress in Orange Day” to raise awareness and funds for leukemia.  The school-wide dress-down event, during Catholic schools’ “Random Acts of Kindness Week,” raised $2,062 for the Leukemia Society. Orange is the color of leukemia awareness.

The students at the Rockaway Beach school decided to raise funds for the Leukemia Society to show their support for Rocco Pisani, a school graduate who survived leukemia during the COVID-19 lockdown.

“The students at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Academy say the prayer to St. Francis of Assisi every morning. They live by the words in that powerful prayer, and were so inspired by their former student Rocco Pisani, who bravely fought Leukemia during the pandemic, that they decided to donate to the Leukemia Society,” Principal Satti Marchan said.
