More than 200 South Queens residents, from kids with boundless merriment to seniors who refuse to repress their inner child, gathered outside Howard Beach Assembly of God on Saturday afternoon for community group Howard Beach 11414’s third annual Christmas bash.

Members of Power House Dance Academy captured the moment with an invigorating routine.
Eddie Earl and his HB 11414 elves transformed the outdoor space into a winter wonderland, replete with tiny carolers, a toy drive, a show-stopping performance by the Power House Dance Academy—and a special appearance by Jolly Old St. Nick!
“This means the world to me,” Earl said as he caught up with The Forum at Saturday’s event. “I love this neighborhood.”
Earl added that his group is “happy to do this for the community,” later promising that they’re “going to make it bigger and better every year.”

City Councilwoman Joann Ariola (R-Ozone Park; l. to r.), Eddie Earl, Howard Beach Lindenwood Civic Association Co-President Phyllis Inserillo, and community leader Jay Frango are all smiles on Saturday.
More importantly, Earl seemed to recognize the crucial role such community events play in a starkly divided nation—especially this time of year.
“Republicans and Democrats are here—it doesn’t matter,” Earl posited. “It’s not about red or blue. It’s about the red, white, and blue.”
