The severely mutilated remains of a dog were discovered Tuesday in Hamilton Beach Park, according to the Howard Beach Lindenwood Civic Association —the latest evidence of a recent rash of seemingly ritualistic animal sacrifices in secluded spots in Howard Beach and Broad Channel.
“[A] beautiful dog was found mutilated and left to die in a plastic bag with coconuts and fruit along with several chickens,” HBL Civic leaders wrote on Facebook next to a picture of the black plastic bag in which the canine was found.
“The Howard Beach Lindenwood Civic, New Hamilton Beach Civic and the Broad Channel Civic are calling on National Park Service to bring a permanent designated detail to the Howard Beach, Hamilton Beach and Broad Channel Jamaica Bay and National Park land areas in the communities—IMMEDIATELY. Our communities will accept no less. We are also calling for the expedited installation of the cameras that have already been funded for Hamilton Beach Park and Frank M. Charles Memorial Park.
“As Americans, we believe in freedom of religion. This is not religion. These are criminal acts against helpless animals and we will not stand for it. We must do all we can to protect our animals and our park land.
“We have had ENOUGH.”
