On Friday, City Parks and Recreation Department Chief of Special Programs Bonnie Williams and MS 210 teacher—and long-time lifeguard—Robert Butler rolled out the Big Apple’s very first Lifeguard Water Safety Outreach Assembly for the students at MS 210 in Ozone Park.
“This was an amazing opportunity for lifeguards to speak directly to young people about ocean hazards, and teach them the importance of basic water safety,” City Councilwoman Joann Ariola (R-Ozone Park) said. “These seminars can very possibly save a life, so I am very thankful to Mr. Butler, Chief Williams, and all of the others who participated and helped to make this a reality.”
