The New York Landmarks Conservancy announced this week that its free 15th annual Sacred Sites Open House will take place on May 17 and 18.
Participating sites will showcase their buildings, histories and community programs through guided tours, lectures and musical performances.
To date, Queens congregations participating in Sacred Sites Open House on Saturday, May 17 and Sunday, May 18, include:
- All Saints Episcopal Church, 85-45 96th St. in Woodhaven, Saturday, May 17, 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday, May 18, 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
- Bowne House Historical Society and Museum, 37-01 Bowne St. in Flushing, Saturday, May 17, 12 p.m. to 3 p.m.
- St. George’s Episcopal Church, 14-22 27th Ave. in Astoria, Saturday, May 17, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
This year’s theme, “Building for Eternity: Religious Architecture and Artisans,” highlights the work of artisans and world-class art and architecture found at religious institutions across New York State.
“Open House Weekend is a wonderful opportunity to explore buildings you might not have entered otherwise,” said Peg Breen, president of the New York Landmarks Conservancy. “We hope you will enjoy discovering the architectural treasures in your own community.”
