City Councilwoman Joann Ariola (R-Ozone Park) will once again host her annual Back-to-School book bag giveaway on Wednesday, Aug. 27, at her Ozone Park office (93-06 101st Ave.), and she’s inviting local families in need to come out and pick up supplies.
The giveaway will run from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., while supplies last. Children must be present to receive supplies, and it is on a first-come, first-served basis. Supplies are limited, so families are encouraged to arrive early.
“Every year, I hear stories about children heading into the classroom without the basic supplies they need to succeed,” Ariola said. “This not only affects their performance in the classroom, but it impacts their self-esteem as well. By having events like this, we can help build up our next generation, and equip them with everything they need to thrive and build brighter tomorrows.”
