An unidentified man was killed early Friday morning when he was struck by two vehicles as he attempted a perilous crossing of the Belt Parkway near 146th Street in South Ozone Park, according to the City Police Department.
Investigators said that on Friday, around 5:45 a.m., police responded to a 911 call of a pedestrian struck on the westbound Belt Parkway in the vicinity of 146th Street. Upon arrival, officers observed an unidentified man lying in the roadway with trauma to the body. Emergency Medical Services responded to the location and rushed the pedestrian to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center where he was pronounced dead. Further investigation by the NYPD Highway District Collision Investigation Squad determined that the pedestrian was crossing the Belt Parkway from south to north at 146th Street when he was struck by a gray 2023 Lincoln Aviator, operated by a 52-year-old man, that was traveling westbound. The pedestrian was then struck and dragged by a gray 2021 Toyota Camry, operated by a 45-year-old man, traveling westbound. Lastly, the Toyota was struck from behind, by a black 2020 Hyundai Elantra, traveling westbound, and operated by a 24-year-old man.
The three vehicle operators were not injured and remained on the scene. There are no arrests, and the investigation remains ongoing by the NYPDs Highway District Collision Investigation Squad.
