In a strong display of the Christian faith, dozens of area residents from several Howard Beach congregations gathered at Frank M. Charles Memorial Park on Sunday for a procession that featured banners, hymns, prayer, and words of inspiration for these arduous times.
The event was organized by the Rev. Francis Colamaria, pastor of St. Helen Roman Catholic Church; the Rev. Stephen and Sharon Roser of Howard Beach Assembly of God; Howard Beach Flag Man and founder of the community group “Howard Beach 11414” Eddie Earl; and Connie D’Andrea.
Charles Park is federal greenspace maintained by the National Park Service. It is part of Gateway National Recreation Area, which spans 27,000 acres from Sandy Hook, N.J. to Breezy Point.
