Over 10,000 Job Applications Submitted to Resorts World Casino NYC

Resorts World Casino New York City has received 10,654 job applications with more than 70 percent submitted by local Queens residents.

The company plans to hire 1,500 permanent workers in areas including entertainment, hospitality, security and food services. That number is up from an initial estimate of 800 jobs. When the hiring process was launched in May, the casino promised to give community members preference for the positions.

“These latest applicant figures reflect the genuine excitement in and around Queens about the opportunities that the new facility will bring to the local community,” said Michael Speller, president of Resorts World Casino. “With last week’s poor jobs report, we are continuing to evaluate opportunities for more job creation. We are thrilled to have the chance to accept applications from so many talented individuals and are looking forward to building a skilled and diverse local workforce.”

Interested applicants can visit the onsite employment center at Aqueduct Racetrack. The center is open on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. and Wednesday from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. The casino has also partnered with three local employment centers – NYC Business Solutions – Queens Workforce 1 Career Center; SUNY Queens Educational Opportunity Center; and Council for Airport Opportunity.

Check the casino’s website, nynewyork.com, for more information on permanent positions, recruiting events and to submit an application.

“We’re so pleased that so many people have already utilized the various employment resources we’ve made available to the community,” said Kevin Bogle, Vice President of Human Resources at the casino. “The overwhelming response we’ve seen from job seekers in such a short period of time is a strong indication that Queens is primed for further development, and we are pleased to play a role in stimulating the local economy.”

The casino is scheduled to open in late summer.
