Flushing Man Sentenced to 20 Years for Rape

A 41-year-old Flushing man will spend two decades in prison after he was sentenced on Friday, Jan. 20 for a 2009 sexual attack on a 19-year-old girl.

John Dixon, who lived on Parsons Boulevard in Flushing, has been sentenced to 20 years in prison after he was found guilty of first-degree rape, second-degree assault and first degree sexual abuse in April 2011.

According to testimony, Dixon lured the girl into his car offering her a ride to work on the morning of Nov, 28, 2009. At first, she refused but Dixon insisted that she take the ride and she ultimately agreed. After the girl got in his car, he drove a short distance before stopping at 70-20 Parsons Boulevard. From there, Dixon choked the girl, hit her, then sexually assaulted her. He then forcibly raped her before releasing her from the car and driving off. The victim wrote down Dixon’s license plate number and reported the incident to the nearest police precinct.

District Attorney Richard Brown said Dixon’s sentence is just because he left the victim emotionally and physically battered.

“He is a violent predator and the sentence imposed today is more than warranted and protects the women of Queens County from such a vicious individual,” Brown said.
