Police Seek Suspect In Attempted Rape

Police are searching for the suspect in an attempted rape near the Ridgewood-Glendale border on Sunday night.

At about 10:30 p.m., a man grabbed a 25-year-old woman from behind and knocked her to the ground near the intersection of Saint Felix and Cypress avenues, police said.

He attempted to rape her, but when the victim started screaming for help, the perpetrator grabbed her purse and fled on foot.

The Queens Special Victims Squad is looking for the suspect who was described as a black male, 25 to 35 years old, approximately 6 feet tall and 210 pounds, with short black hair.

He was wearing a gray jacket at the time of the attack.
