At its last meeting on March 8, the Juniper Park Civic Association honored a college student who saved the life of a 2-year-old girl.
Joanne Ruvolo saw the child choking in the parking lot at a Met Food in Middle Village where she works. She immediately started the Heimlich maneuver until she cleared the obstruction and the girl was able to breathe again.
