Forest Hills Stabbing

A Massachusetts man pleaded guilty on June 19 to meeting up with a Queens resident and stabbing him to death in a Forest Hills apartment, officials said.

He will likely face 20 years in prison when he’s sentenced.

Queens District Attorney Richard Brown said that 33-year-old Alexys Fermaintt of Holyoke, Massachusetts met Michael Pecora online and arranged a meeting inside Pecora’s Forest Hills apartment on 65th Avenue.

There, Fermaintt killed 38-year-old Pecora by stabbing him multiple times, according to the charges.

Fermaintt then took the victim’s laptop computer, cellular phone and watch before fleeing the apartment. Fermaintt was arrested soon after in June 2009 in Massachusetts and has been held without bail since then.

He pleaded guilty last week to first-degree manslaughter in front of a Queens County Supreme Court Justice who said Fermaintt would be sentenced to a 20-year determinate sentence next month.

“The guilty plea is a measure of justice for the victim’s family in that they will be spared the trauma of hearing all the gruesome details of the killing at trial while being assured that the person responsible for this brutal attack on their loved one will serve a lengthy prison sentence,” Brown said.
