The New York Families for Autistic Children (NYFAC) Annual Car Wash was their most successful one ever according to President and Founder Andrew Baumann.

Held in Lindenwood last week, a crew of volunteers washed dozens of cars throughout the day after the parking lot of Queens Community Savings Bank was transformed into a scrubbing station.

In addition to raising money with the car wash, NYFAC sponsored a classic car show held across the street in the parking lot of the Lindenwood Shopping Plaza.

NYFAC is in the process of opening a state-of-the-art center for Autism on Crossbay Boulevard. Baumann says that things are progressing nicely however construction has been slightly delayed causing the official opening of the building to be pushed back.

“We’ve waited this long,” Baumann told The Forum, “and it will surely be worth it. It’s just that we’re all so anxious and ready to get going here.”
