A 53-year-old Queens man was arrested and charged with 53 counts of criminal weapons possession and reckless endangerment after firing shots in the air from several weapons outside his Astoria apartment at 20-11 Shore Blvd.
Police called to investigate the reports of gunfire on Sunday August 26th then pushed for a search warrant at the home of Michael Millazzo. Shortly after, according to authorities, they uncovered enough weapons in the man’s home to supply a small army.
The arsenal confiscated by police included 10,537 rounds of ammunition, 2 handguns, 26 magazines for high powered rifles, 32 machetes, 60 knives, 16 air pistols, 1 air rifle, 7 tasers, 8 brass knuckles, 9 batons and 10 pair of handcuffs. Law enforcement officials at the scene said the inside of the apartment was blanketed with stickers from the National Rifle Association, including one that said “a proud member” and assorted military stickers. Milazzo’s Facebook page sports a photo from the cast of the Soprano’s and lists his interests as that of guns, rifles and pretty woman and his activities as gun range and handguns.
One neighbor, Greg Alevreas, told reporters that he and other residents were glad Millazzo had been arrested. “He’s not all there. He’s just odd.” To that he added, “We’re glad he’s gone… he shot in the air, what’s he going to do next time?”
