A 20-year-old woman was raped on an Ozone Park street after a man gave her a ride in his car early Sunday morning, shortly after 5 a.m.
The suspect picked the woman up and offered her a ride after the victim says she had a fight with her boyfriend and was trying to make her way home. He drove the woman to the intersection of 98th Street and 97th Avenue, and then told the victim that she
“Should be good to him.” Realizing what he expected for the ride, she opened the door and fled from the car.
But the suspect jumped from the car and ran after her as shown in the surveillance video released by the NYPD. After a foot pursuit, he grabbed her, pinned her down, ripped off her pants and raped her before fleeing the scene.
The woman was taken to a local hospital, police said.
Authorities describe the suspect as a black man in his 20’s with a stocky build, last seen wearing a blue and white shirt and blue jeans.
Anyone with information about the attack is asked to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers hotline at 800-577-TIPS. Members of the public can also submit their tips by logging the Crime Stoppers website or by texting tips to CRIMES (274637), then entering TIP577.
