An accident on Woodhaven Boulevard in Ozone Park sent two drivers to the hospital, caused one vehicle to flip over and another to smash into a pole, and snarled traffic up and down the busy roadway last Thursday, according to witnesses.
A driver traveling northbound on Woodhaven Boulevard last Thursday allegedly ran a red light at 101st Avenue, according to witnesses. A driver traveling along 101st Avenue was unable to avoid the other car, according to an individual who works nearby, and that vehicle ended flipping onto the hood of the car.
The driver traveling on Woodhaven Boulevard smashed into a pole on the side of the road, a witness said.
Numerous passersby and area workers rushed to the scene of the accident to help, including to call 911 and treat the individuals’ wounds.
“The driver came out really bloody, and I gave him a compress and put pressure on his head,” said one woman who works near the intersection of Woodhaven Boulevard and 101st Avenue.
Both drivers were transported to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center, and they were treated for non life threatening injuries.
