A Maspeth teaching assistant was charged with having sex with a 14-year-old boy who attended the school, the Police Department said.
Clara Somodi, 39, was arrested last Thursday around 1 a.m. after the student pegged her as his alleged girlfriend in a conversation with a speech therapist at the Walter Reed School, PS 9, at 58-74 57th Ave., police said. She has since been suspended without pay and the student was enrolled to receive counseling, a spokeswoman for the Education Department said.
She was charged with rape, a criminal sex act and endangering the welfare of a child, cops said. Police said the teacher has denied all the charges against her.
Somodi taught special education for 10 years at the school, which serves students between kindergarten and 9th grade, and received a salary of $35,040 a year, the DOE said.
Police did not say how long the supposed relationship had been going on. The alleged sexual acts, however, did not occur on school grounds, the NYPD said.
